On A Wave of Sunlight

(for my daughter)

Before I woke, I saw you.
A wave of sunlight
lifted you across my threshold
with your arms full of flowers.

Or, perhaps I was remembering my own heart
coming back to me through the years?
I saw floating inner lights,
circles joined.

Light given, not won.
Received, not taken.
Honored, not questioned.
Just us. Ourselves.

On a wave of sunlight
I saw that we rode
all the way
to the stillness of our most remembered place.

I dreamed, this morning,
before I woke,
that a wave of sunlight
brought me to your door.

Lifted me
across your threshold
with my arms full of flowers.
